Loft apartments revitalize run-down Grand Rapids warehouse
Just more than a year ago, the old, two-story brick building at 333 Commerce Ave. SW in downtown's Heartside Neighborhood would have been easy to overlook.
Built in the 1930s and used as a warehouse for clothing and furniture companies, it had fallen into disrepair. Paint peeled from bricks. Most windows were long gone.
But it's a new world at the building, now known as Loose Leaf Lofts.

Brownfield tax credits enable Heartside residential development to hire 20
Loose Leaf Lofts at 333 Commerce, Grand Rapids, will use nearly $283,000 in Brownfield Single Business Tax credits to redevelop the former Loose Leaf Bindery building into market rate rental loft residences. The financial boost, announced by Governor Jennifer Granholm on April 17, is expected to generate more than 20 jobs.
